about the capoeira lessons on thursdays near waterloo and london bridge

Our Thursday classes will be relocated from January 2010 to an exciting new health club neighbouring Tate Modern, just half way between the Waterloo and London Bridge stations.

We run a parallel beginners’ workshop, therefore you will sometime be asked to work with a newcomer; most of the time however, you will train with other members, who are about your level, and work on your personal weaknesses.

The lessons are designed for our regular students’ to work on their weaknesses, strengths, flexibility, balance and stamina. We practise more advanced movements, acrobatics and more complicated sequences.

The classes might seem to be challenging at times, but it is important that a student continue and come to those classes regularly, if wishes to get to the next Capoeira level. Students are guided through and advise on the areas they need to focus. They are encouraged to follow the class training alongside their teacher.

Students have also opportunity to practise what they have learnt in the roda.

Classes are taught in English and Brazilian Protuguese.

Music is a very important part of the training. You will learn to play basic traditional Brazilian instruments, such as agô-gô and reco-reco and to sing some Capoeira chulas and corridos (songs). With this, you will also touch on Brazilian Portuguese language.
